View Full Version : Softsubs played from dvd-rom crash

As my computer monitor's twice the size of my TV, I'm happy to put several movies on one dvd-rom (dvd+r), and watch on my pc.

One consistent problem with this is that no player - media player classc, wmp 6.4, bs, zoom - seems able to play a soft-subbed movie from a dvd-rom. I've seen this with "sub" and "srt" extension files.

Of course, matroska and Ogg Media files work fine, but I have a bunch of soft-subbed avis that I don't wish to repackage and re-burn.

Is this a common problem? is there a way around it?

Here's a little more detail as to what happens:

With zoom player, just as the video should be starting, I ge a pop-up error:

"external exception E06D7363"

The program then freezes. It can only be closed by task manager, or by dropping an unsubbed video on the display, then it plays fine and can easily be terminated.

WMP (6.4 or 9) offers "Runtime error! Program c:\....mplayer.exe

This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."

BSPlayer offers:

External exception E06D7363
EExternalException
, 0x004E746F, 0x004E766D, 0x00453527, 0x0044A872, 0x77D43A50, 0x77D43B1F, 0x77D43D79, 0x77D44374, 0x004E8584, 0x77E814C7

BSPlayer and WMP both quit once you 'ok' the error screen.

When I copy the files from DVD to the desktop, they work fine.

Any clues?
