ProLogic and MP#

Hi, I'm sort of new here and I have a question...
Is it possible to downmix ProLogicII into MP3 or will the surround-signal be lost as some of my friends say.

The documentation of CDex in the other hand tells that the Joint-Stereo-mode of LAME shoould be able to encodode PL. In that case, should I use CBR or VBR?

Yes, it's very possible. Both CBR and VBR should preserve Pro Logic information assuming you use a sufficient bitrate. See the AC3 and MP3 FAQ's linked in my signature.
