Until the last few days I used to make XVCDs with DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc and to amplify the wav file generated by DVD2AVI (decode) with CoolEdit.
Now I'm trying to make Xvid files with Gordian Knot according to the guide I found on the site, but the ac3 file generated by DVD2AVI (demux) is really too low and I didn't find any way to amplify it. Did I miss something (a filter to install, an option in DVD2AVI or Gknot, something on my PC ?) or what is the best tool to amplify ac3, or is there another (better) format for DVD audio track conversion than ac3 ?
Thanks for any help as video quality is really better in Xvid than in XVCD for a smaller size but audio is really too low

The AC3 is demuxed directly from the DVD so there is no difference in what tool you use to demux the AC3. If the volume is too low, use DRC or gain with your amp or with AC3Filter on your pc. See the AC3 FAQ linked in my sig for more information.

Thanks for your reply Kpex

Anyway I'd like to view my Xvids on a DVD home player (LiteOn 2100) and it seems it doesn't recognize ac3 audio tracks in Xvid so I'll try mp3
