Hi everyone. I have been encoding video for all day (on my slow pII) and found out after 1st pass finished that my subtitler filter in VDMod went wrong (or...probably i went wrong:) ) and subs aren't synced. Do i have to remake the whole 1st pass? or i just can disable/readjust subtitler filter in VDMod, and continue with second pass?
P.S. I don't change any other parameters except this. i.e resolution. resize, and all other settings are the same for the both passes.
thanks:)

It should work out ok - even if the resulting quality is more sub-optimal than it could be.

Thanks
The output settings are very "low quality" especially bitrate.
I am encoding video to fit (and be able to play) on palm, so i am doing 304x??? or max 320x??? at 12fps (half). Bitrate is about 120 kbps(i mean kilobits), I know that this bitrate is too low, even for this resolution and half frame-rate. but i have to put 1.5-2h video on 128mb cd-card. I have no choice. So i am trying to pull out maximum from Xvid. Is it designed to work under so hardly restricted conditions? and with so low bitrate?
p.s i can't use gms, packed bitstream and cos player for palm cant decode it.

related to my previous post.
in my case (320x176@12.5fps) do i have to use some profiles in Xvid?
or liave it unrestricted. I read help file that came with Xvid, and if i understand it correctly, these profiles are for compatibility with hadware players, of smth like that.
Do i have to use them if i want play the output on the palm?

The profiles are designed to guide the user to what settings they can / cant use.

Using different profiles shouldnt change anything if the same settings are chosen.

So, No is the answer.

If you are encoding at that low bitrate then you should definately do the first pass again to make sure you get the best bitrate distribution.

You might want to look into a custom matrix too (although I dont know if your palm will allow them)

Thanks!
I will try custom matrixes, maybe this will improve q-ty.
