View Full Version : RV10 plugin for DVX

I have created a plugin for DVX which enables RV10 encodes with it.
DVX becomes the first program I know of that can encode to XviD or DivX as well as VP6 and RV10.
Anyone interested can find it here (http://www.planetdvb.net/board/index.php?act=ST&f=25&t=739&st=0#entry4437)
I must note that this in not a gui for the helix encoder it is just a simple plugin. Only video is handled by it as audio is encoded by DVX as usual with besweet. Credits are allways encoded as 1 pass quality based and user chooses mode for the movie from 1 pass quality, 1 pass VBR, 1 pass CBR, 2 pass VBR.
After the encodes video, sound, subs and chapters can be muxed in one matroska file using mkvmerge.
This is my first programming attempt so please show some understanding... I have made several tests but bugs are likely to exist.
If anyone wants to try it go ahead!

Hi
It's great to have competitors :D, but saying "the first", Surreal UI is the first, but still in dev :(. Do you use producer or the codecs directly?

I use producer not the codecs directly.
I did not know surreal supported VP6 thats why I said the first...
I am not a competitor, like I said it si not a full gui just a minor plugin with only the basics!

Don't worry, you're not on my "kil ltarget" list :D
Surreal UI will support RV10/9/8, XviD and VP6. I plan to add FFMPEG later. Sorry for spamming here :(

I would like to take a look at the competitor :D , where can I download it?

Could this 'plugin' be used in other encoding applications too. Such as MPEGmediator 1.5 (www.MPEGmediator.com)?
Cheers

I don't know for sure since I have never used this MPEGmediator but I don't think so... It is not a "plugin" it is a "DVX plugin". This means that it takes arguments from DVX, runs commands DVX creates and uses variables found in DVX. If MpegMediator also uses plugins maybe a similar one could also be created but I don't really know...
Mine is written in C# and DVX uses .NET.

According to the creator of MPEGmediator, the application can accommodate 'flask type' (.prm) plug-ins!
As I know 'sod all' about programming, I don't know if this is good or not!
Cheers
EDIT: Ooops, typo.... I meant to type 'flask', not 'flash'!

Do not think I am a programmer guru! This is my first serious programming result. I have absolutely no idea what those flash type plugins are...

Please redownload the dll from the attachment found in the link of the first post as I have corrected a bug that did not allow proper file muxing after long encodes...
Thanks

Version 0.2 is out. Get it from the attachment found in the first post link(replaced the old one)
Fixed:
- If the target movie name contained a space character the producer call was invalid. This has been fixed and now the movie name can contain spaces.
Added:
- Movie Title is passed to mkvmerge during the muxing of the files. The target movie name is assumed to be the movie's title, so if you want to pass the full movie's title to mkvmerge you can use it all as a target file name.

Major update!
RV10 plugin for DVX version 0.3 is out!
Updates:
- Features from the "Elysian" release have been implemented.
- New Rate Control available
- Ability to do only the first pass, create a stats file and do the second pass at a later time (you can even change your settings and use the same stats file)
- Many new options
- New "tabbed" interface with one tab using all old options and choices and one tab using the new rate control and new elysian options.
- Aesthetic changes
Downloads:
- Get v.0.3 from this post's (http://www.planetdvb.net/board/index.php?act=ST&f=25&t=739&st=0&) last attachment.
- Get the new "Elysian" release from here (https://helixcommunity.org/beula/download) and replace the erv4.dll found under the codecs directory of your producer directory with the one from the new release. If you use real player also replace your system's decoding dlls with the ones found in the decoder section of the zip file. This however is not mandatory.
I have made a few tests with this new plugin version but I cant say it is thoroughly tested or bug-free, so please report any problems, errors or bugs and I will try to fix them...
Suggestions for future releases are also welcome!
Thanks,
Chris

Version 0.4 is out!
The plugin's code has been rewritten to make it work with the latest DVX version recently released. I have also changed a lot of stuff to better integrate the plugin in DVX. It now appears in the list of DVX's available encoders just like any other codec. Use it just like any other...
