hi,

iīvw some problems with dif4u and reauthorist. i tried to back up a dvd as described in the tutorial. the only difference is that my dvd files were already ripped to hdd because a blanked some vob to save space. therefore i choose hdd demux. after this dif4u reports thats this option is only for emergency and a lot of features arenīt support. anyway i started dif4u. after finishing it demux it looks like dif4u hangs although the log reported "finished". after this reauthorist didnīt start automatically. moreover when i tried to select the muxed files my myself authorist crashed with a memory error. the log files reported

VTS not already added. Creating a new one...
Failed to open/process any video files ...
skipping his PGC
Processing structure...

does anyone know help for this problem..??

thx

hmmm...you kinda went out on limb there and tried the two things that are definitely not recommended in the guides or by the authors....stripping vts/pgcs and demuxing from your hardrive.

well the first point isnt really an issue as long as you retained the structure of the disk, as for the second...well its an easy job to use ImgTools Classic to create an .iso image of your files, mount them in virtual drive (eg daemon tools) and demux from this virtual dvd.

hope that helps

The way you do it is a little harder than the way I found. Rip in DIF4U like you would and select the PGCs you want to re-encode. Let it do it's thing, and then when ReAuthorist launches, kill it. Go and strip your VTSs like you would, and then open up ReAuthorist to re-encode. You should have a new bitrate calculated for the new size of your VIDEO_TS folder (which just has all the files you're not encoding with CCE, so it doesn't care if they're stripped or not ---> just be sure to maintain your original structure as shown in 2COOL's guides). You should be all set from there; stripping before-hand and re-creating the image is a hassle; try it this way, I've done over 70 movies this way and not one issue from it. ;)

....not that i condone butchering ....but...
wouldnt it be easier to simply select all the vts/pgs you wish to encode and/or strip in dif4u, then when reauthorist is loaded, deselect the vts/pgcs you dont want (trailers, dolby logos etc), hit 'autosize' to adjust your bitrate, 'author it', then either use or replace the dummy files in scenarist with a slideshow of 'this item has been removed' bmp, or black bmp slideshow of very short duration (10 frames or so) then compile, and update these new vobs with ifoupdate....

thx for the help
