Hi there... I am a new forum user which has been patiently waiting the 5 days to post my first question ;-).
I just bought a "Rimax MPEG4 multiplayer", that is, one of those living-room DVD players that can also play divx, xvid, etc.
After looking at the product manual and website and playing around with the remote control, it looks like the player is not able to use subtitle text files (sub, srt or any other extensions) in conjunction with AVI files burned together in a CDR.
So still my PC is a better place for watching movies (I like the original versions)... although sitting for a couple of hours in my desk chair is not a very nice way of watching a movie.
What can I do? In principle there are two options:
a) Is there a way of telling my DVD player to use those subtitles? Maybe it is just a matter of burning them the right way, with a specific subtitle or directory format... but I doubt it.
b) I can always re-generate the divx or xvid file with added subtitles. That would kind of "hardcode" the subtitles as part of the movie images.
I guess that b) is the only realistic option...
If option a) is possible, how should I generate my CD's?
If only option b) is possible, which utilities can I use to regenerate the movie by adding subtitles in the image?
Thank you very much in advance.
