(Yeah, what a useless topic. :p )

I'm curious: how do all of you pronounce AviSynth?

AY-vee-synth
AH-vee-synth
AY-vee-eye-synth
ay-vee-EYE-synth
...?

Or for french readers forgetting that:
*-sinte
*-since

hmm... don't know what letter combo will get this sound across, but i pronounce "a-vi-synth", with the "a" sound said like @ or "cat" (without the consonants of course).

i've picked the closest one above...

great poll idea... somebody must've been bored ;)

A-V-I-Synth

A, V, I as they pronounced in the alphabet.

Same as AS
(of course I'm English (Geordie sub-dialect) so my pronounciation could be different to his:)

I only pronounce it in dutch sentences (never actually talk to any foreigners about it), so for me it's ah-vee-synth (synth being the normal english pronounciation). In english I'd say ay-vee-synth though.

Drat, I forgot an "Other" option...

A-V-I-synth, so option 3 I think. There's no good diminuitive form that's immediately obvious, whereas I say "vee-dub" all the time.

If I should pronounce it to someone from my own country, it sounds a lot like option 2. If I'd pronounce it to a foreigner, it'd probably sound like option 1.

The difference is lies in a softer 'v' (wee) sound in my native language. OTOH, german 'v' is a lot more like 'f', so they might also have another pronounciation.

Spanish pronunciation can be readed in english in this way i think
Ah-Vee-Sinth
So i voted for 2 that was the nearest :D

Strangely enough, I also say vee-dub instead of vay-dub which would be logical for dutch.

I pronounce it as AY-vee-synth
(AY-v as in HAVE) i.e. HAVE - ee - synth.

Vdubmod I pronounce as Vee-dub-mod

In Russia,
We mostly pronounce it as:
Ah-vee-synt ( NOT -syntH)

But where must be stress? we put it on "Synt"

I never liked saying "AVI" as a word, and don't really hear a lot of other people call it "avee" or anything similar so I never really did. I couldn't find a nice way to pronounce it - there's too many ways - it's not as defined as pronouncing other acronyms like GIF or MPEG where there's really only one way of pronouncing them (in English anyway).

So,
Ben Rudiak-Gould pronounces it AWH-vee-synth.

But how to pronounce "AWH-" ?
What is similar word? or transcription.

But how to pronounce "AWH-" ?IIRC, Ben pronounced the first syllable kind of like "aw" in "awe" or "saw".
