i want to put the log file in my webpage but geocities is not allowing me to login?
after the avi is made, i use gknot and it tells me that the birate it 504kbps, and i set it to 500
is the log file the one with *_Gknot? e.g.

Should i just leave the keyframe settings in divx's keyframe interval to 300 or should i change it for each movie?

1) Please post a complete <movie>_GKnot.log file. This one is partial, and shows an initial bitrate setting of 550kbps.
2) Why do you wish to adjust keyframe settings?
3) For a guide to DivX 5.1+ codec settings, see http://www.divx.com/support/guides/DivXGuide51.pdf

:thanks: Here's what I see in this particular log: Initial average bitrate 550 kbps Estimated size of .mp3 after transcoding 21765 KB Etimated avi overhead 1576 KB (1-AC3 / CBR MP3 soundtrack) Resolution (388x292) using Modulo 4 rather than defaults Width 32 / Height 16 Bits/Pixels*Frames = 0.202, no compressibility testing CBR MP3 transcoding No recalculation of bitrate if actual MP3 size different than estimate Actual size of MP3 3KB larger than estimate 2 passes.Understand that you are running multipass encoding, not constant-bitrate encoding. If you would prefer constant bitrate, you can do 1-pass constant bitrate encoding in VirtualDubMod, while still using Gknot as your .avs script generator.
For multipass encoding, you are trying to achieve maximum quality within an average bitrate. Here are a couple of things I noticed and wish to mention: Compressibility testing is recommended. It will allow you to choose an optimal resolution for the specific content, at your requested file size or bitrate Resolutions are recommended to be Mod-16 or higher. DivX macroblocks are 16x16 pixels. Using Mod-8 or Mod-4 may affect compressibility. Some video cards may have trouble with video resolutions below Mod-16.

Thanks
But i want 2 passes :D , isnt there a way to use 2 pass encoding and still maintain a cbr ?

No. For more details, read the document I mentioned above.... see http://www.divx.com/support/guides/DivXGuide51.pdf
