Did you guys have a spat with FU crew? Why is the FU thread/links/download/guide gone?
I've used many ripping/conversion programs and had always favored FU because it always worked and was fairly easy to use. G-Knot was a big improvement over each of its componant programs seperatey but it was still harder to use and less reliable then FU. FU has NEVER failed me. The detractors said FU was slow and they did have a point. They said it used the "hacked" codec and the had another point.
Well FU has been remade is now nearly perfect, IMO. The front end is mostly unchanged which is good cause it was great all the long. Improvements have been made in speed and automation. The coder now uses a 2 pass process that is much faster. All the stupid stopping points have been eliminated/streamlined so once the ball is rolling the thing will go till you have a finished product. In fact you can load several up in a row and you can have it auto shut down at the end.
I LOVE it and want to make a donation (small) to both the original coder and the programmer who took the job over and did a great job finishing the project.
This offer of a donation is an extreme compliment as I'm a very picky person and generally very hard to please. I HATE most programs because they all seem to make you click just one more time then you really need to, for example I hate Nero cause you gotta go thru several exit screens after you are finished burning a cd.
Yeah if you are a super-tweaker and like to monkey around you are still gonna prefer GKnot. I still use it on occasion myself if I'm doing something special. I'm not knocking Gknot really, as it has its place.
LONG LIVE FU!!!!!!!
