Hello

I'm trying to make a backup of the Movie The Doors R2, but in VTS 6 the vob id are very strange. I need to know how can i backup this dvd.
This is an example, all of the pgc only use 2 VOB ID.

PGC_16 (program chain): [Title (TTN): 16] [00:02:36.03 / 25 fps] (Programs: 2) (Cells: 2) ( uses VOB-IDs:1,2)
[Ch 01] [Pg 01] [Cell 01] [V/C Id: 1/45] : time:00:00:56.13 / 25 fps [Pos: 00:00:56.13] [Frames: 1413]
[Ch 02] [Pg 02] [Cell 02] [V/C Id: 1/47] : time:00:01:39.05 / 25 fps [Pos: 00:02:35.18] [Frames: 3893]
[Ch 02] [Pg 02] [Cell 02] [V/C Id: 2/ 1] : time:00:00:00.10 / 25 fps [Pos: 00:02:36.03] [Frames: 3903]

PGC_19 (program chain): [Title (TTN): 19] [00:02:25.03 / 25 fps] (Programs: 2) (Cells: 2) ( uses VOB-IDs:1,2)
[Ch 01] [Pg 01] [Cell 01] [V/C Id: 1/35] : time:00:02:24.18 / 25 fps [Pos: 00:02:24.18] [Frames: 3618]
[Ch 02] [Pg 02] [Cell 02] [V/C Id: 2/1] : time:00:00:00.10 / 25 fps [Pos: 00:02:25.03] [Frames: 3628]

PGC_20 (program chain): [Title (TTN): 20] [00:01:57.23 / 25 fps] (Programs: 2) (Cells: 2) ( uses VOB-IDs:1,2)
[Ch 01] [Pg 01] [Cell 01] [V/C Id: 1/30] : time:00:01:57.13 / 25 fps [Pos: 00:01:57.13] [Frames: 2938]
[Ch 02] [Pg 02] [Cell 02] [V/C Id: 2/1] : time:00:00:00.10 / 25 fps [Pos: 00:01:57.23] [Frames: 2948]

Thanks

sorry, really couldnt tell much from those images (also the hyperlinks kept trying to loop back to this thread????) so if you could post the part of the ifo that you think is 'strange', someone may be able to provide you with some answers.
cheers

thanks for that!
still not 100% sure what the problem is though...
is it the re-used Vob-ID '[V/C Id: 2/ 1]', that is causing you grief?
if so, it shouldnt be, as they are only short tracks that are used so you can 'skip' to the next chapter/scene/menu or whatever.
if you are trying to reauthor in scenarist youcan simply re-use the same track/cell each time.
or you could create a black .bmp in photoshop(or whatever) in the correct resolution/pixel area and import into scenarist as a 'still picture' and then use it to create a 'slide show' track, change the duration to 10 frames (the default is 10 seconds) and use that.
....although if there are no other re-used Vob-IDs then DIF4U and RA should handle this for you without any need for manual authoring.
let me know if that was the problem

I have very recently (week before xmas) done The Doors R2 without any problems in the normal way, by pgc.

Take a look at this doom9 guide, it should be very similar in make-up to what you are doing...

http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/doitfast-unfaithful.htm

(apologies if it turns out to be more tricky than I remember, I guess I've done so many now I just do it!)

You don't state what the problem was, are you just trying to analyse the make-up before you start? If you're worried about whether to rip by pgc or vobid, my tip to you would be just to let DIF4U rip by default pgc for everything you do (unless you know in advance that a dvd contains a theatrical & directors cut on the same disk for eg.). There are not that many dvd's that need to be processed by vobid and The Doors isn't one of them.

Let us know how you get on.

I've doned some movies with duplicade Vob ID, the problrm for me is that the pgc 1 have 2 Vob ID (1,2) and has 2 hours and hall the others 19 pgc have the same vob id with diferent's lenght.

Thanks

Well, I'd say this is not that special.

When you say PGC1 has vob id's 1&2 and vob id 1 is reused in other pgcs then this is maybe because there's an extra feature, that refers to certain chapters/cells from the main movie.

Vob id 2 is only a dummy with its 12 frames duration. I guess it's present in every pgc and has always the same duration, right? No need to bother about that, RA should handle this.

If all PGCs are using vob id's 1&2, you can do the following:

Delete all PGCs in scenarist's scenario editor from that titleset, keep only the main movie pgc.

In Ifoupdate you have to use then 'Adjusted Cell Mode', that rebuilds that kind of structure.
