Hi there,

due to some help from influenza :) I managed to reauthor Star Wars Episode II in Scenarist.

I demuxed the main movie by vobid, 'cause it has two angles at the beginning of the movie. So far, so good, everything worked very nice 'til the end, after I rebuilt everything in scenarist.

What's not working properly, are the subs.

Here is a snapshot from the original ifo:
Title Set (Movie) attributes:
Video: MPEG-2 720x576 (PAL) (PAL 625/50) (16:9) (letterboxed)
.
.
.
SubPicture 1: English (2-bit rle ) (ID: 0x20,0x21)
SubPicture 2: Deutsch (2-bit rle ) (ID: 0x22,0x23)
SubPicture 3: Deutsch (2-bit rle ) (ID: 0x26,0x27)
SubPicture 4: English (2-bit rle ) (ID: 0x24,0x25)
SubPicture 5: English (2-bit rle ) (ID: 0x28,0x29)
SubPicture 6: Deutsch (2-bit rle ) (ID: 0x2a,0x2b)

And here's a snap from the newly authored ifo (already processed by ifoupdate):
Title Set (Movie) attributes:
Video: MPEG-2 720x576 (PAL) (PAL 625/50) (16:9) (letterboxed)
.
.
.
SubPicture 1: English (2-bit rle ) (ID: 0x20,0x21)
SubPicture 2: Deutsch (2-bit rle ) (ID: 0x22,0x23,0x20)

As you can see, it seems like in my new ifo some subs are missing.

DIF4U demuxed for every vobid 12 subtitles, which is logical, because the original ifo shows 6 subpictures, but every subpicture has two id's. That's because one is for widescreen and the other one for letterbox.

What I did in scenarist was simply to import the subs for every track and set the preferences properly (which language, wide or letter). The information which language it is and if it's wide or letter can be seen in the folder names which DIF4U creates for demuxing the subs.

Now I don't know why the subs are quite messed up in the new ifo

No surpise, the behaviour is also not correct, 'cause on the original dvd subpicture 5 or 6 will be activated depending on the selected audio-track, 'cause they contain the forced subs for the 'alien languages'. As you can see, this won't happen with the new ifo, 'cause all I have there are only the 'main substreams', nothing else :(

I went quite a long way with this bitch called 'Scenarist' with reauthoring everything by hand and the least I expected was that I will have trouble with the subs in the end *LOL* :D ;)

Any ideas for me 'Scenarist Padawan'? :D

Thx in advance & greetz

either give them all a different name, mux and don't use the option copy subpicture tables (if you did)
[19:46] <influenza> or go to scenario editor, click on the title symbol
[19:46] <[69Mws]> influenza: yeah, I used that copy subpicture table option
[19:46] <influenza> go to the bottom middle screen and choose adjust max subpicture streams
[19:47] <influenza> after that tick all checkboxes that appear
[19:47] <influenza> after setting it to custom ;)

A final note, after I did it (hooray :D):

I used the method mentioned by influenza with clicking on the title in the scenario editor, changing the dropdown for the subpicture amount to custom and checking all 12 listed sub-tracks.

When using this method, you also need to make sure that 'Copy Audio and Subpicure Table' is not checked in IfoUpdate or you'll end up having also 12 subpicture streams in the updated ifo, which is not meant to be (it should be 6 streams with two id's like in the original ifo).

I leave that note just because it wasn't quite clear to me in the beginning and in case someone else will run into this problem :)

Hi,

can be this problem solved by overwriting some part of PGCITI table from title .ifo file (code can be seen here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=76589))? In my case (Tomb Raider R2) subtitles from wide and letterbox streams are the same. They differ only in number of stream.

If you set thing up correctly in scenarist you'll be ok:

Go to scenario tab. And on the left site of the screen expand the title untill you're on pgc level. Now in the properties browser double click on subpic attributes and double click on the stream. There you can set things as wanted.

Hi influenza.

Could it be set in .ifo file after authoring? I can change the numbers of used streams in IfoEdit. But I´m not sure how standalone handle with choosing of subtitle stream. Does it use some "hard typed" values or does it work with variables which are set in .ifo file?

And thanx for reply ;).

Yes you can change it in the pgcity part of the ifo. The values are hard set and always use the same increments. Just look at any ifo of a title with subs ;)
