ok, this is going to sound weird...

I need (if possible) to add a subtitle stream from a dvd (intro and end song subs, is 2nd sub stream on dvd), as well as my own subtitles, to both be permanent. Also, the colour, position, etc of the dvd subs need to be the same.

the only two ways I've been able to do this, are very slow and tedious...

encode the video with autoGK (dvd subs 'burned' into avi), then make my own with SSA, add them together with vdubmod, and save it.. only problem is there is too much quality loss, no matter how I save it.

second way is to extract the dvd subs, convert to .ssa format, add mine into it, and manually re-adjust the colours, positions, font size etc. This is very hard when the end song lyrics are on the top and bottom of screen (need to seperate one sub line into two (one language on top, and one on bottom), and adjust time, font etc).

PS.. I have no clue how to use avisynth, have tried many times and failed miserably
the dvd in question is 1 - 5 of .hack//sign

what r u trying to do? dvd or dvix?

if it is dvd u can merge the new text with the old in the bmp of the subs.
