According to AVICheck, GK and AutoGK produce .avi files with 12 bit colour. How can I force 24 bit ??
I have a Yamada DVX-6100 which seems to require 24 bit.

DVD's use MPEG-2 video, in the YV12 colorspace. With the advent of AviSynth 2.5x, Gknot has been able to retain that colorspace.

But that doesn't necessarily describe why you're having whatever trouble you are having. It could be bitrate or codec feature settings (QPel, GMC, etc.) preventing you from playing on their player.

I've been unable to determine by poking around on www.divx.com whether or not the Yamada is DivX Certified. The entire "certified" section seems to be missing from their website when I went to check on the Yamada there just now. But, according to a sticky in their hardware forum, as of November 25, only the KiSS DP-500 and the Philips DVD737 had completed certification.

The manufacturer's website does not describe the DVX-6100, but I have determined that there are resolution restrictions, but unfortunately, not what they are:

And, I have determined that there is a 2000 kbps limit:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000B0A4H/ref=ase_onthewebcom-21/202-7161754-5053431

The manufacturer, Umax, doesn't have a DVX-6100 description at their base website in Germany, just the DVX-6000. And, I can't read German. Their US website has no DVD players at all. So I can't help you further.

If no one else in the GK forum can help you in the next day or so, I'll move this to the hardware player forum.

afaik it doesn't support summer's (or later) builds of XviD at all. But since we're missing codec information from the first post I can only speculate about that...
