I have to create a video file from 3dStudio max. This video file will be edited in PremierePro in a DV-PAL project. My question is: when I render the AVI file from 3ds, what kind of compresion I have to use? DV video comressior or uncompressed?
In fact if I use the first one and then I put the AVI-DV file in PPro it shows in the timeline that it must be rendered another time to conform Premiere-DV (even if the settings are the same), so I have two DV compression. If I use the second one of course it must be rendered, but I should have only one DV compression.

My advise render to lossless bitmap series - applying 2 DV-compression on CG stuff will look not very good if you're unlucky ;)

lately i've been using CorePNG vfw codec for 3ds max. just like a string of .tga files, except compressed and conveniently in one file.

it supports alpha channels, and has similar compression to HuffYUV (with simple enough scenes that is).

i forget the thread it is released in... try the forum search.
