With DVDDecrypter, i'm used to ripping in file mode - so can I use this method to rip and then get autoGK to do the conversion or do I need to stick to the guides and use the IFO mode?

always stick to the guide :)

Although if you rip only one vobset in file mode which contains only 1 PGC and no angles and moreover it's the largest vobset on DVD then it should work (but it's quite a lot of constraints - that's why it's not mentioned in the guide...)

thanks for the reply.

Its just because I have never ripped in IFO mode and was wondering whether this mode copied across a different set of files in comparison to FILE mode - which by the default highlight, copies over just the main vob's and associated ifo files. If these files are all that AutoGK requires then I guess it wont make much of a difference what file mode is used.

Oh, it will actually. You will never be able to rip a TV show DVD with AutoGK in file mode... And AutoGK in fact uses stream info file produced by DVDDecrypter only in IFO mode (not ifo file itself).

well I guess that settles it then! IFO mode it is!! :)

thanks len0x

P.S. Since now there clearly is a difference, you might want to update some of the guides to reflect this fact so that future newbies dont ask this.

well, the guide clearly states which mode should be used without explaining why. So if you just follow it then it's ok. But explanation for more advanced ppl may confuse total newbie...
