When I try to encode my AC3 audio file using BeSweet with 128kbps (to mp3) I sometimes get 117kbps or even more, like 138kbps. Why? Is there a way to force it to be 128kbps?

everything is ok with your file

Is there a way to force it to be 128kbps?yes use a cbr setting, ie alt-preset cbr 128

So if i really, really want the audio file to be 128kbps, I have to encode in CBR?

Most likely, yes. What Lame options are you using in besweet?

'abr 128' preset is used (from the log)

I'd confirm your bitrate in Winamp, then if it really is too far off from 128, then yes, you'll need to encode CBR to hit it right on.

of course, you could always use trial by error to get 128kbps using ABR, which would give you better quality than the CBR 128kbps encode.
