Thanks to Jeff Davies, I've found a tool that can be used to extract closed captions from DVB and DVD MPEG-2 files a lot faster than my SCC_RIP tool. The tool is General Parser (http://www.geocities.com/mcpoodle43/SCC_TOOLS/GeneralParser.zip), and the files you need to add to rip captions are included in my SCC TOOLS (http://www.geocities.com/mcpoodle43/SCC_TOOLS/SCC_TOOLS.ZIP) package download. The directions for using the tool (it's a bit tricky) are here (http://www.geocities.com/mcpoodle43/SCC_TOOLS/DOCS/SCC_TOOLS.HTML#CCExtract) (I also updated CCASDI to cover some obscure CC codes and XDS packets, plus providing all the details on how little I understand VCD closed captions in the documentation).

P.S. As a result of upgrading to ISDN, I was forced to move my webpage from www.sonic.net/~mcpoodle/SCC_TOOLS/DOCS/SCC_TOOLS.HTML to www.geocities.com/mcpoodle43/SCC_TOOLS/DOCS/SCC_TOOLS.HTML. In a rather Orwellian move I have updated all of my previous posts to reflect this move, so it will appear that I have always resided there. My e-mail address has also changed, to mcpoodle43 (@t) yahoo.com.
