I have just recently switched to gordian knot from flaskmpeg, the only problem I have is the sound seems to be very slightly off, only I seem to be able to notice it, I asked some friends and they said it was barely noticable. Is this something I can fix?

Yes, sync can be fixed. Depending on the type of sync problem, either the sound's start time can be adjusted by re-multiplexing the .avi output, or, the sound may need to be lengthened or shortened prior to re-muxing.
:logfile:But, perhaps there's something you're doing procedurally that's causing it? If you'd like any of us to metaphorically look over your shoulder, just post any of your <movie>_GKnot.log files here.

Does it automatically make a log file? or is that a setting that I have to turn on? The movie I just did is really badly off D: also does the ms delay on the audio encoding panel related?

You should have a log file in your working directory (where the .avs scripts are, where your .avi file is), called <whatever you named the .avi file>_GKnot.log. There will be one there for every Gknot job, and if you're doing the same file name, there will be an increment number added to the filename.
Yes, the delay value in the Audio 1 tab makes a difference. That value is normally taken automatically from the file name, if your source is DVD. That file name is created by your ripping application. If you are using Gknot, that ripping application is either DVD Decrypter, Vstrip, or (if selected via Robot4Rip options) the internal routines of DVD2SVCD.
If you are not using DVD source, or have changed the soundtrack file name, then you must enter the delay value manually, as it will default to 0 milliseconds.

The log seemed a tad long to post, and I wasn't sure which part you wanted to see so ... http://www.team-maia.com/steve/convert_GKnot.log

Thanks for posting the log. I noticed a few things related to sound, and a few things unrelated. In the order I discovered them: You are muxing the .ac3 file, yet your .avi overhead you chose was for vbr mp3, which has a higher overhead than .ac3. You will probably fall a little short of your intended file size, and could probably get away with a slightly higher bitrate. Using this particular log as an example, with an .aac3 soundtrack overhead would be 3 MB of space, but because you have vbr mp3 selected, Gknot assumes the .avi overhead will be 5MB. Not a huge difference, but then, this is only 51:38. With longer content, you'll be "giving away" more space.
The audio delay is set to 16ms, which matches your ac3 soundtrack file. Great!
The avi audio interval is set to 1 frame, with preload at 500ms. These are the default settings. They work very well with mp3, but with ac3 soundtracks, there are sometimes problems. Not always, but sometimes. See Question 7 in the AC3 Q&A (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18318) in the Audio Encoding forum. This may (or may not) account for your sync issues.
I saw the following error after your first pass:6:08:23 PM: WARNING: Number of counted frames differs from settings!
6:08:23 PM: WARNING: Settings: 74276
6:08:23 PM: WARNING: Counted: 2125
6:08:23 PM: WARNING: Difference: 72151Your first pass stopped about 3% of the way through. The log does not show the reason. VdubMod may have crashed, for example, or been halted manually. So your second pass only had 01:29 worth of content to go through. Note that the second pass only took one second -- it really couldn't run. This last has nothing to do with sync, but this encoding is a failure, reason unknown.Other reviewers may see other things. These are the things I saw. I hope it helped!

Thanks for the help, I'll check out that other thread, I didn't actually encode the entire movie for that log file, I figured you just wanted to see the settings. If you need to see an entire one lemme know :D
