I get the error
File "D:\FS11\TitlePicture.bmp.avs" can not open, or unsupported

running DVD2SVCD - when gets to converting pictures with TMPGEnc.

I recently tried upgrading to the latest DVD2SVCD. I'm using Windows98 - went to add/remove programs - removed my old DVD2SVCD. Then went into Program Files folder and removed the DVD2SVCD folder. Finally, installed the latest DVD2SVCD.

I didn't reload TMPGEnc - just pointed to where it is in DVD2SVCD.

My guess is that the avisynth filter isn't loaded correctly? I have another machine with the same software setup, but this was a fresh install - not an upgrade. I can't see any difference in the setup.

I DO have the TiTitlePicture.bmp.avs - it is not read only and looks complete.

Suggestions? Thanks.

Try to open it in Windows Media Player and let us know if it plays or not.

Also, post your TiTitlePicture.bmp.avs file

Plays in media player

Here's the avs file

LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\DVD2SVCD\AVISYN~1\AVISYN~1.DLL")
Blackness(2)
AssumeFPS(29.970)
ConvertToYUY2
BicubicResize(240,240)
AvisynthBMP_Loader("D:\fs11","TitlePicture.bmp")
BicubicResize(240,240)
AddBorders(232,120,232,120)
BicubicResize(480,480)
ConvertToRGB()

I've found a lot of post on this in www.dvdrhelp.com - but no answers yet. Thanks.

@linuxking,

That's a pretty odd AVS script. DVD2SVCD did not generate it for you, did it?

jsoto
4th January 2004, 21:56
@r6d2
Yes, it seems a little odd, but IMHO it has sense in order to keep the AR of the bmp (assuming you edit it with "square pixels"). Sure it can be optimised (too many resizings), but for a 2 frames encode it has no sense.

Here is the PAL version, created just now with D2S and a bitmap of 240x240, which works fine to me.
-----------------------------------------------
LoadPlugin("C:\ARCHIV~1\DVD2SVCD\AVISYN~1.5PL\AVISYN~1.DLL")
Blackness(2)
AssumeFPS(25)
ConvertToYUY2
BicubicResize(240,240)
AvisynthBMP_Loader("F:\pru4","TitlePicture.bmp")
BicubicResize(240,240)
AddBorders(232,168,232,168)
BicubicResize(480,576)
-----------------------------

@linuxking,

I'm not sure about your problem, but try in Encoder tab, Advanced Setting, Color Conversion--> Convert to YUY2. (This is the main difference between your avs and mine, I do not have your last line)

I've also had problems with bmps created with some old tools, but they don't play in Media player, so seems this is not your problem.

@linuxking,

Sorry, I forgot you are using TMPGENc.

Well, seems the problem is in the VFAPI plugin priorities(Environmental settings). I've reproduced your problem playing with them, but I'm not an expert in this area, so I hope someother could help

Yes, DVD2SVCD made this avs file. I do very little modification from the defaults.

I've read all the dvdrhelp threads I could find on this. The suggestions vary from the simple - uncheck the title and change cd picture - to editting the avs file and/or going into TMPGEnc and changing priorties for the premier plugin. Myself, I just clicked 'OK' through the errors and copied the converted title and change CD picture from an old conversion I did.

I happen to have two side-by-side computers with the same software setup. One works without this problem. The only difference I see is that on the working one I moved TMPGEnc into the Program Files directory after it unzipped. I don't see how this is a problem as long as I have DVD2SVCD looking at the correct directory for TMPGEnc - but after my current job gets done - I'm going to try moving TMPGEnc and see if that corrects the problem.

Thanks.

I found this at the TMPGEnc site - posted by another person

Have any of you rescently updated to media player 9???it has been known to cause these problems and there is No fiX accept to go back to MP8...

I did just download media player 9 - lucky for me I did a ghost backup before I did this - so as soon as my current job gets done - I'll try restoring and see if this fixes my problem.

Well, I restored - now back to Windows Media Player 7 - and still have same problem.

I have the same prob. Message i get is "imput file C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\Movie\titlepicture.bmp.mpv was not found" Its a pain to go through the encoding only to get this message. I look in there and i cant find a file of that name in there. It happens when the runbbmpeg.exe dos box is up. These are the files of that discription that are in there

TitlePicture.bmp
TitlePicture.bmp.avs
TitlePicture.bmp.mpv.m1a
TitlePicture.bmp.mpv.m1v
TitlePicture.bmp_avs-vfapi.avi

I was using canopus procoder

@linuxking,

I was playing a little more with your problem and, in my installation of TMPGENc, using ConvertToRGB() I can reproduce your problem.

Please check my initial rec, and let us know if you have problems using YUY2 space, that means
a) Edit your D:\FS11\TitlePicture.bmp.avs file and change the last line to
ConvertToYUY2
b) Try to open the new avs in TMPGENc and see if the error pops up or not.

@Mystery Man
Your problem is different. Sorry, I do not have your encoder, so I can not give you any clue.

Did you try the recs of http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51096 ? (BTW, a STICKY you should have read... :) )
Usually, they solve all the problems when using avi files.

OK I had the same problem using the same programs. The fix is simple.
In DVD2SVCD Go to CD image tab and select "Don't make Images".
I know it seems to easy but it works. Try it on a small chapter.
I only convert music videos for compialations so I always work with small chapters.

Hi

I had the same problem as linuxking.
After I selected "Convert to YUY2" in Encoder->Adv.Set.->Color conversion it worked for me.

The resulting avs file looks like this:
LoadPlugin("d:\PROGRA~2\DVD2SVCD\AVISYN~1.5PL\AVISYN~1.DLL")
Blackness(2)
AssumeFPS(25)
ConvertToYUY2
BicubicResize(240,240)
AvisynthBMP_Loader("E:\Image","LastCDPicture.bmp")
BicubicResize(240,240)
AddBorders(232,168,232,168)
BicubicResize(480,576)
ConvertToRGB()
ConvertToYUY2()
