Hello everyone,
I have a problem, My dvd standalone(Sony Dvp-NS400D) will not play S/Vcds made with D2S. I have "bought" many svcds that work fine with the player if i use the header trick. My settings are usually 1 or 2 disk RoBa 1pass with default bitrate. CCE 2.7x? with FACAR. Im thinking my dvd player just cant play 1 pass but i wouldnt know. The result is an Audio offsynch that varies thoughout the movie. What do the "companys" that release svcds use? Should I try cbr?

The player cannot tell in how many passes the stream was encoded with. It just knows it is VBR.

The cause may be you player not playing SVCDs at all. Those you "bought" may not be SVCDs at all either. That header trick thing is a clear indicator of that.

I suggest you to look for you player on www.vcdhelp.com or other similar places, to see what does it support.

r6d2, my dvd player can not play svcds, but it can if i make it look like the svcd isnt a svcd at all.

I have also made a vcd in d2s also and it gave similer results.

So, how can we help you? What is the problem again? (from the title of your thread and the first line of your post, I understood you had a problem related to compatibility.)

If you have audio sync issues, they may be not related whatsoever to the fact that your player requires the VCD header trick. Try to do some search on audio sync issues, or give us more info to understand what your problem is.

(Audio sync/delay issues have nothing to do either with CBR/VBR choice.)
