Hi
Im new to DVD2SVCD but have been using CCE and Scenarist for about a year, Thought I would give this a go as it would do it all for me.
Now I tested with a small vob ie a ten min extra and did the job fine ended up with a DVD image on H/D ready to burn.
But trying to do a 2hr 20min film (3 times now) CCE finishes and puts the completed encoded file in my video folder but then goes no further.
I can get round this as I can use scenarist, but tonite after completing a 12hr 4 pass I left it for an hour then shut down CCE my log was at this point

At this point I realised I had just wiped out the last14 hrs of work!!!!!!!! NOT A HAPPY CHAPPY
WHAT can I do?
Can I blag it by adding the following to the log if it fails next time.

Closing program
CCE Max Speed: 0.880
Video Encoding finished. (Pinched this of another post)

and then trying to recover?

SPEED- quick question, using CCE on its own I get speed of approx 1.45 as part of this I get .8-.9 speed is this normal?

Sounds like you might have "do not make images" selected in DVD2SVCD's CD Image tab, you will just get a muxed mpeg file instead of Senarist creating a DVD image etc.

The stuff in the avisynth script will have a big impact on your CCE speed, I think bilinear is the fastest resizer for DVD (even though it does nothing I guess.)

Try the D2SRoba plugin, will halve your encoding time at worst!

Cheers for quick reply RALPHTHEDOG just checked, sonic scenarist is selected.
Thing is with exactly the same settings I had done the small vob file.
Only thing different was the time taken one took 2hrs the other 12hrs

SPEED
The Avisynth script I will look into further, the Levels bit was stuck in due to overly dark finished product, this line corrected the problem.

Best bet is probably to use the search button, there are a few threads around relating to scenarist troubles. Maybe someone else already had the same problem (and solved it?!)

I have been using DVD2SVCD to produce DVD's for ages without any scenarist related incidents (using scenarist 2.6).

4 pass VBR takes a seriously long time (3 pass is probably just as good), thats why I mentioned D2SRoba.

Cheers ralphthedog n syzygytec.

Ive just started it going with a few suggestions you made.

At the end of the day even if scenarist dosnt kick in the first part of work has been completely automated for me, cutting down on a load of work, ie all the demuxing stripping converting extracting etc.

Ive just flicked over computors as I write and have cce going at 1.865
WOW!!! never gone that quick before

again thanks for your help.

Ps had looked to see if anyone had same problem but they seem to have problems within the program CCE and Scenarist not at the end of one and beginning of other.

JUST AN UPDATE.
Having spent most of the day tweaking and then testing I found that I can now get DVD2SVCD to run to the end, by leaving the rip folder set to default.

IE on DVD RIP tab DO NOT have "select new default folder when rip starts" checked.

I double checked this by checking the box and selecting a folder and it failed again.

Hope this helps anyone in same situation.

The speed problem I was having was due to recent BIOS update I had made (Motherboard manufactors update) I hadnt noticed the speed reduction until running DVD2SVCD, SO another plus for what is turning out to be a damn good piece of software, guess I will have to make donation!!
