This should perhaps be in the other format section. But since I suspect that it's pretty basic stuff...
I tried out VP60 and VP61 for backing upp an NTSC DVD.
Apart from not coming anywhere near real time encoding on my XP1700+ in one pass encoding, I couldn't get the 2pass encoding to work. And I generally found the documentation to be ... well... non existent.
Also, I couldn't figure out why the vertical resolution has to be n32 lines (and not n16). Somewhere in another thread, the good man from On2 stated (I think) that it's because hardware decoders need this to be able to work. But why haven't they been designed for a multiple of 16 instead? Material resolution of 720 lines can't be that uncommon. So in order to be hardware compliant, one always has to resize the material. Akk.
