Hi,

I did use the search button and found info on the i guess previous model the LVD 2001 but not on this model.

From what i can gather dixv 3 is not supported very well, OGM container and OGG audio not at all, and subs arent supported by any hardware players yet.

My question is does this model at least solve the divx 3 playback probs from the previous, any mention of OGM container support via firmware for this drive? Many of my encodes are xvid/ogg - ogm so I'm guessing that i may have to reencode my audio to mp3 and mux in the avi container a lot of my movies if i want to play them back.

I can get this model for $320 AUD which seems reasonable to me but I'm wondering wether to hold off due to divx3 and OGM probs for perhaps other players with have greater support for more formats. Have read about the ELTA player which may be a good one for me?

2002 model is just a budget version of 2001 (i.e. without card reader, but with SCART). The rest is the same (including firmware features).

only latest beta firmwares (which were officially removed from LiteOn site though) supports SRT subs, good DIVX3 playback, *.OGG audio (but not OGM container and I didn't hear any plans for that from LiteOn).

is there also an "unofficial" firmware version for the lvd 2001 which supports better divx3 playback, and ogg and srt?

0301 beta for LVD 2001: http://www.liteonit.com.tw/DC/english/images/zip/2001-0301.zip

Be aware though - many ppl couldn't use the unit after flashing with it (personally I don't have any probelms running this firmware though).

Read up here before making up your mind: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDname=lvd+2001&Search=Search

well, it sounds like this new beta firmware is worth trying out, but it seems noone has been able to revert to the old firmware after flashing to this beta version.

i'm not sure if i want to make this firmware the last firmware on my unit :)

that is not true. if you follow second link in my previous post then you'll be able to find a solution.

I flashed my lite on 2002 with the proper firmaware upgrade disc and now the door will not open nor will it respond consistantly. Did I make toast? Or is the door mechinism just shot? it worked finne before thje upgrade.
