I've been using quicktime alternative v1.22 to play files using ZOOM Player. I'm trying to completely remove QTalternative and install Quicktime 6.5.

The problem I'm having is UNINSTALLING. It doesn't seem to want to go away. Uninstaller leaves files in the system folder that cause errors when trying to re-install quicktime codecs

Within windows the files are locked, If I remove the files outside of windoes and install Quicktime 6.5, the files no longer play with zoom ...

Are these files somehow registered and if so how do I UNREGISTER them ?

Files listed below are part of the problem.

I CAN move them, just not delete.

TMPGEnc users had some trouble with these files also, so it may be a problem with regular quicktime also ...

QuickTimeMPEG4.qtx
QuickTimeStreaming.qtx
QuickTimeStreamingExtras.qtx
IPIXSupport.qtx
QuickTime3GPP.qtx
QuickTimeAuthoring.qtx
QuickTimeEssentials.qtx
QuickTimeInternetExtras.qtx
QuickTimeMPEG.qtx

XP Pro, System32 Folder

Boot Windows into safe mode. You should be able to remove almost anything you want in safe mode.

Or use a tool called "unlocker" to remove the bindings that make the file 'in use'.

Try installing the latest version (v1.77), then uninstall again. Could be the uninstaller in v1.22 is buggy.

I don't think that would help, since he isn't even able to manually delete the files.

If you can't delete files even in safe mode, then you need to boot using your Windows XP disc and go into "Repair Mode" and delete them that way.
