Anyone know of a way to get the reciever to send a digital signal to my pc so I can record my tv shows in digital format via the firewire off the back of the hughes receiver?

what exactly are you asking???

you want a nifty gadget that converts firewire >> RCA????

No. I am looking for a way to get a signal from my directv firewire port to my computer. The firewire port on the hughes reciever is made for a DVHS deck. There must be a way to output that signal through the firewire port somehow.

As far as I know, there's only one company that makes the hardware to do this, and I'm not sure if it's compatible with your receiver:
