So out of all the 1-clickers, what is not the best? List all of them that you think aren't, except for the best, because we can't talk about that one.

(hehe I had to ;p)

If it's suppose to mean "and", then it should be an "a". LOL

To answer the initial question:-

Try some and see what you think.

A while back I can remember some people saying how good they thought Dup DVD was for VCD conversions, I thought/still think it is total cr@p and thought they should seek medical help for this problem. But hey that was just my opinion based on my experiences with it and what my eyes told me about the end results. But my point is many people were/still are happy with that particular software.

All subjective at the end of the day.

Reminds me of what my cheeky landlord said in the pub to a customer a few months back when he was asked by a customer what his ham rolls tasted like. His response:- "Do you want to try it first?" :D

Era is definately not the best one-click solution for backing up DVDs.

I think Tide is better, but truthfully I think a solution (pun intended) of Tide and Cheer gives the best combination of quality and flexibility.

[Just a lame attempt to continue the humor of the thread - hope it's not too much of an inside joke.]

exactly mate! :p

I might as well say it. One reason rule #12 is around is to get all the real lazy people to get off their fat arse and actually try a few options before asking for help instead of asking to be spoon fed all the time

I don't walk into a superstore and ask the shop assistant 'I want to buy something, which item is the best?' as there are 1000's of answers. We'd both be there all day before I got the answer I wanted! but supplying a little, but very valuable info, would help a lot ;)

and the only answer you can give to the original question that cannot be questioned is :

'none of them are the best nor are any the worst as it's all subjective to opinion'

p.s. I like Bold All in 1 :D

Is there anyone here over the age of 14 besides me? Now I fully understand exactly why this forum has such a bad reputation for friendliness.

No replies?

Well, Kedirekin, you were the one person in here that I figured would be above the infantile humor and would show an intellect greater than single digits...so much for that theory.

To those who might be lurking, the joke is anything but inside, and is actually a quite transparent derogatory reference to a post of mine from yesterday. Kid's at play....harmless fun.

snidely - enough. you call people infantile and yet here you are insulting not only specific people but the board as a whole. if you dont like it here then just p*ss off. i for 1 am sick of stupid comments some make like "draconian rules" and "this board has a bad rep" or "this other board is more freindly". you dont like it here then just go already. if you are going to stay then you accept the rules the board is run under, the link to which is right at the top of the page in case you missed it.
if you want to question why this or that rule is there you will get a response but dont try and come over high and mighty because most others dont agree with you.

sorry mods but this thing is getting ridiculous. please put a stop to it before it goes any further.

Ouch!

Hey, sorry if I offended you. I was just trying to make a joke. Really.

I thought your post (in the other thread) was meant to be half tongue-in-cheek. I mean, the way you described it you were totally going off on the woman. It was so unreasonable I couldn't help but chuckle.

I think some people take things just a bit too seriously around these parts. What are we doing here? Feeding the hungry? Nope. Curing cancer? Nope. Putting roofs over the heads of homeless people? Nope. We're making friggin' backup copies of our video collections. Period, and end of story. Any bickering at all on these threads is just plain petty -- black, white, and simple.

Once more: Asking about program functions in an attempt to figure out where your time and money are best spent isn't out of the question -- that's why we're all here. Reporting bugs and trying to find answers to problems is also why we're here. But as soon as one begins asking about opinions (especially in those not-so-rare instances where an individual mistakes opinion for fact -- whether it's their own opinion or someone else's) simply won't provide any sort of concrete answer whatsoever. It certainly isn't useful, since what I like someone else won't. That's why many of us here grow tired of "what's best" questions. The turn of events on this particular thread only serve to prove my point.

If you want to argue, then get married!

Peace to all!

if you dont like it here then just p*ss off.

That's the best advice I have gotten here in a long time!

You guys are the ones who would not let this issue die, not I. Just look at who started this thread and then look at the ones who joined in. I stopped posting on this over 24 hours ago, in the other thread, but then people had to come along and make personal attacks on me by poking fun at my little soap analogy. Amazingly enough, you guys missed the whole point entirely!

I now fully understand why rule 12 is in place - It is not because of the question, but rather because of the answers that will be offered by forum members, showcased for all to admire in the above quote.

At this point I agree and will very greatfully resign my membership here. I don't wish to be associated with you people in the least or in any way whatsoever, so I go happily. Besides, the knowledgeable people of Doom9 certainly are not in this end of the forum for the most part (with the exception of Kedirekin and mrbass), so there really isn't any loss for me anyway. And since you guys already know it all, there is certainly nothing for you to learn from me, so once again it is a mutually beneficial situation for me to go.

I will go back to moderating my little corner of the world, and I will still tell my membership that Doom9 contains much good information, but I just won't point them to the "one click solutions" area. Besides, Doom9, mrbass, mpucoder, DDogg, and all the other moderators are very good people, and I have no desire to bad mouth them or their fine efforts just because of a group of bad apples who frequent this area.

Despite my hostility, I sincerely wish the best for all of you, and if you ever come around my forum, I will treat you well, unlike the treatment I have gotten here.

Sincerely,

Bob Sorel
AVS HTPC forum moderator

P.S. - Kedirekin, thank you for your apology and explanation. My faith in your integrity has been renewed. Hopefully our paths will meet again elsewhere, as you are one of the truly knowledgeable and helpful people here.

Bye, bye!

This thread is a good example of why Rule 12 exists. No matter how much a person believes he/she is right... it is always debatable and someone else will feel the need to argue about it.

In the end it inevitably gets nasty.
