Hi,

here's the thing, DVD2AVIdg is taking too long to save the project...

I haven't done anything to my pc and the last project I saved that was quick took about 5mins, and most of the projects I saved took that time now that I have a P4 2.8C. Before I had a P3 800 and it took about 10-15mins...

The problem is that I just created another project and it's tooooooooo slow, the estimated time is more than 30mins, sometimes it reaches 40mins...

Any thoughts on this? What may be wrong? Like I said, I haven't changed anything in the system and I even tryed to reboot without opening any applications an just with dvd2avi opened but no good... Is it possible that some kind o VOB files take longer than others or something is wrong for sure?

Is this with or without an audio stream dump?

Makes no differcen:

Output Method --> Disable or Demux All, the estimated time will be the same...

What's your CPU usage? (hint: ctrl-shift-esc)

not much....

there is almost none cpu usage, it looks like the computer is idle and not using any cpu...

sometimes dvd2avi process reaches 2% of cpu usage but most of the time is at 0%

If you revert back to a previous version does it still happen?, with the exact same settings obviously.

It does sound like your ide bus is flooded, download this prog and see:http://www.bustrace.com/downloads/IDEUtil.exe

i experience the same issue actually ever since i fist used dvd2avi. sometimes it finishes real quick, sometimes it takes up to 40 minutes with the same settings.

what i figured:
since i used to rip to my server ofer a 100mbit sonnection, reading of course had to take longer. using an attached drive made the phenomenon actually dissapear. until... now!

now i use an attached drive and here is go: 40 minutes. since i ripped to the same drive simultaniously with no probs at 10x speed, i know the bus is just fine. when the rip was finished i would have expected dvd2avi to speed up, but that was a nogo.

the rip i made just 30 minutes before that one took dvd2avi some little minutes.

what the heck?!?

I have noticed the slower speeds too. I have tried DVD2AVI 1.76 though and it's running at the same speed. Setting to a higher priority in task manager doesn't help either. On the same movie I get faster speeds if I don't split the vob files. Maybe it's just depends on the movie. I don't know. But I don't think it's a DVD2AVIdg issue as the other versions are decoding at the same rates.
