Encoding "My Best Friend's Wedding" in GKnot (DivX 5.1.1, one CD, 2 pass standard, mv, mp3 cbr) it gives me this strange problem: while playing in fullscreen (BSPlayer), it shows only a part of the picture (upper left third), while windowed it shows only the bottom half though. I've even tried to encode it in XVid as well - does exactly the same. Anybody know what could be the problem?

Well, it's not the codec's fault. We need more informations : What is your video card ? What filter do you use to playback video ( XviD, DivX 5, FFDShow, 3ivX ) ? To what resolution did you encode your movie ? Is it the first time you encounter that issue ?

Well the card is GeForce MX, the filters are DivX/XVid, the resolution was something around 640 and yes, this is the first case. The thing is, the decrypted vobs play perfectly alright (except that there is no sound, but there is hardly any connection between these two I guess). :(

Try to install the latest video drivers. Try FFDShow ( here (http://athos.leffe.dnsalias.com/) ). What do you get using another player ( MPC for example ), or changing the 'Overlay Mode' in BSPlayer ( I should have begin by this one ). It's not the fault of the vobs, nor the way you encoded the video.

Well I've tried all of the above already (except maybe ffdshow, but I don't wanna go there). The point is, that it doesn't happen to any other movie. Looks like there's something wrong with the original vobs or the way the codecs are handling them during the encode process?

Open your avs script in VirtualDub. Do you see a problem ? If not, it's not movie's fault. If yes, you know the problem.

I still don't think it's the codec's fault ( it can't behaves this way, at least while compressing ). What codec is used to decode ? And when you said around 640 ( for the resolution ) was it 640 exactly, or 642, 638 or something else ?

Why don't you want to use FFDShow, it would be an easy way to find what is wrong. And you can uninstall it easily.

With using MPC, you can change the rendering mode ( it's somewhere lost in the options of this wonderful player ). You have to close MPC / relaunch it in order to see the effects. Do you see any improvments ?

Hi-

And when you said around 640 ( for the resolution ) was it 640 exactly, or 642, 638 or something else ?

Yeah, that's what I was suspecting from the beginning. What's the exact resolution (width and height)?

The res was 640x272.
Just because I "accidentaly" deleted the crippled avi, I've made another 2 passes with XVid. I swear I haven't done any changes to the settings, I even haven't installed anything new. But well, now it works. Strange things happen.

Thanks for your help guys anyway.
