I have tried ripping and converting two different movies into avi's with divx 5. The first one that I did worked in windows media player, but after i burned it and rebooted, it didnt work again. My windows Media player ALWAYS crashes. I've tried quicktime also, divx player, ati movie player, they all crash. The only one that will work is VirtualMod Dub, and it's perfect sound and video, but of couse, it's not full screen. Why do they keep crashing? I think it has to do with the sound because when I try them on other computers, the vid works, but there's no sound. Am I the only one that has this problem?

Try to analyze your file with GSpot, and post the info here... ;)

on my sisters laptop i noticed a codec problem real quick in wmp that flashed, but then it just started playing w/out sound. The video is great, just no sound, and it doesn't play at all on my computer.

Hmm... Only things I can suggest is to download ffdshow (http://ffdshow.sourceforge.net/) and Alex ac3 filter (http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/) !!!

ffdshow will decode video, and ac3filter will decode the audio !!!
Just to be sure you have the right stuff installed... ;)
