I can't figure out how to apply a transition in Vegas 4.0.
I have a DV AVI file and I have removed some junk footage. I would like to apply a special effect to take the viewer to the next scene.
What needs inserted....?

I have done it many times but I can't recall the exact proceedure (auto pilot I guess)
I will check later and report back if nobody else has.
It's not difficult though, you just overlap the scenes and choose a transition. I have a feeling that some transitions only work if your scenes are on seperate timelines.

Of course you could check out the help file

I tried the help file, but it didn't help!
I got it sorted though, I needed to split the file first.
Thanks

Indeed, you can't add a transition to a single piece of video it has to be two different bits.
Mind you the term transition kind of gives it away :-)

push two clips together to form a crossfade, then go to transitions and drag and drop into the cross fade you made
easy, though i usually only use crossfades, don't use transitions you do need
