Hi All!

My question is:

I would like to backup a DVD with DVD Shrink. I don't need the extras just the main movie and the menus. How can I set up the capture option to rip the main movie with menus and without the extras?

Another question:

If I capture just the main movie and the VTS_01_0.IFO file do I need VIDEO_TS.BUP and IFO to get a playable DVD?

I stripped with DVD DECRYPTER and after then burned the files to a DVD disc but wont start because there wasn't the needed BUP and IFO files...

Please make me clear what do I need and which is the best method to strip a DVD.

Thanks in advance!

Greets!

I wouldn't strip anything at all. I'd just re-author in DVDShrink. Shrink will create the necessary IFO and BUP (and VIDEO_TS files) for you.

Check out the Shrink guides at DVDShrink.info (http://www.dvdshrink.info/guides.php)

Oops! Sorry - re-author won't keep the menus.

If you want to keep the menus and main movie, I would recommend shrinking everything else to still frames. That would create the most compliant disk (no broken menus).

If you really want to strip out the extras, you're getting into more advanced processing. I don't think simply striping them out with DVDDecrypter will create a compliant disk. Decrypter's stripping is more a way of isolating assets for further processing. If you have your mind set on this, I recommend you look into IfoEdit and MenuEdit, and be prepared for a steep learning curve.

Welcome to the forum:

Doom9's guide to DVD Shrink http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvdshrink3-main.htm
Here's a link to mrbass' Shrink guide DVDShrink (http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/).
...and a link to DVD Shrink's home page. http://www.dvdshrink.info/index.php

These should give you a start. Post back here with questions, or in the "One Click Backup Solutions" forum here at Doom9, as well.
