I don't necessarily get ripped apart alot on forums, because I am direct and to the point, and very subjective about my statements. But I tend to find alot of ranting and whining and bashing on forums, not necessarily this forum, all forums, but this forum has a wide share of flaming. Much of the time the posts are directed towards the well known moderators. Eg..Koepi catches alot of grief here and I don't know why. He spends alot of time genuinely trying to explain things and HELP people(ahhhh.... a novel idea for a forum)..just an example ... People constantly direct statements about other new formats and such being superior to Xvid, when he is the developer, and some people go as far as to take his helpful words as insults. He spends alot of time here, we should show everyone some respect. Without moderators, frequent helpful posters, and general knowledgeable people, this and any other forum would be nothing. That is the point of forums, to share knowledge, and become smarter. Not to bash each other and flame and rant.
Pretty funny that I am ranting.. but not towards any one specific person, towards everyone haha. I do sometimes wonder what age, or at what maturity level some of the people posting are. Are some of these childish posts coming froming from 13 year olds or the equivalant?

I agree that every forum gets attacked by stupid people periodically, but Doom9 forums have seen worse IMHO.

Things are getting better and better around here, as more people start getting conciousness about the rules and act a bit like moderators themselves :)

And that's why these are by far some of the best forums out there for both developers and users of video encoding.

Even companies like Real Video or On2 Technologies get their products improved by user feedback here. It's a sign of a mature community (but there are exceptions of course! )

Best regards,
Bilu

Cheers for an overall well-rounded community!

(I personally believe it stems from the "waiting period" in registration)

Cheers again!;)
