Hello,
with both beta releases I have crashes.
But not with all settings.
I'm not sure which settings cause crahes.
It has something to do with AQ and / or VHQ > 1

Some Infos around:
OS: Win2000, SP 4
System : K7S5A, Athlon 2400+@2600 (save)
Source: 768x576 huffyuv, pal
Filters: Delogo, Denoiser, 2DCleaner (save)

XVID specific:
1 - Pass
Precision 6
Chroma Motion
BVOP 2,150,1
Chroma Optimizer (does not matter for crash)
all Quantizers 2-6
type: h.263
bitrate: 1500

other options diabled

Crash reason: Access Violation

Crash context:
An out-of-bounds memory access (access violation) occurred in module 'xvid'...

...while running thread "Processing" (thread.cpp:105).

(I could post crash report)

Sorry, but the assumption that an overclocked system is safe doesn't really count here. Make sure to flash the latest original BIOS of your motherboard ( i know about those cheapobios-thingies which make it an overclocker-board and had it myself as temporary solution for some weeks. Overclocking/BIOS was the main reason for weird instabilities while encoding...)

O.K. the overclocking aspect is not an important issue here (I use latest bios). I encoded with this system more than 100 films (all xvid) I never had a crash before and I still don't have with dev-api3 or -4 with vhq=1 and aq=0. So I guess the system is save.
But if you still think overclocking is the most likely reason I'll make another try with FSB 133.

Thanx
Alvy

P.S
(Maybe it has something to do with the restricted quantizers
because it seems no one else has this problems...)

... crashed aggain (with AQ=0; VHQ=1)

Tonight I'll make another try with standard quantizer and cbr setting

Forgot to say: muliplied all cbr setting with 2 for more vbr
Does this really make the encode more vbr (??)

With Quant 2 - 31 and CBR - Settings at default

Xvid works!!

(Now 4 hours encoding. Times before xvid crashed during the first 30 minutes)

So maybe there is a bug

I found it.
It's wether related to overclocking nor (I guess so) to xvid.
The crashes depend on the virtualdub(mod) setting 'display decompressed output.
This happens only with xvid_1b.

I am glad I found it because I like xvid_1 :)

Thanks for your work
