Hi,

I've a little problem. I'm making a christmas gift, the movie "The good the bad and the ugly", burned on a dvd-r. I couldn't find this in any store or on the Internet so I'm not cheap :-) I've got this: a 2 cd divx version with great quality, and 2 subtitle files. I've got no problem as they are but since I'm going to give it away to an older person I want to transform them to dvd-r. This is no problem without the subtitles, since the latest Roxio 6 can do this excellent, but the I'll lose the subtitles. Is there any sw to use to merge the divx version with the subtitles before, or can I in any way add the subtitles directly when encoding them to dvd-r (with svcd-like quality)?

Good question. I'm sure that after I've moved it to a DVD authoring forum you might even get an answer. The DivX ENCODING forum is on the opposite end of your question. Even the subtitling forum might have been a very good place for this question. BTW, you're not asking about help on a (illegally) downloaded movie, are you? 'cause that's another big NO NO here along with posting questions in the wrong forum.

[edit] I really should use ieSpell, not just install it...[/b]

This actually doesn't belong in DivX. This more belongs in dvd authoring or encoding. Try using the search function of the board. What you are asking has been answered many times. Plus, doom9's dvd guide tells you how to do this (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/avi2dvdr.htm).

hmm, actually I still think this still belongs to this forum, because I've read those guides but they seem to be more complicated than what I need. I want, if it's possible to make a divx-> divx+subtitle join, and then convert it with Roxio 6 to DVD. I read in another forum that tmpgenc should discover the subtitle file automatically if it's named accurate, so I'll try that before. I'm not interested in using alot of tools just for this if not needed...
