In one thread here was much talk about (possible) movie adaptations of famous books. I would like to hear your opinions about realized movies by books. Which were good, which were bad? Why?

Jules Verne's books inspired many movies - I say so, because don't remember any, which is made strictly by book. 20000 Leagues Under Sea is probably most known, most adapted, but all versions are too bad, too much crap added, while didn't preserve spirit of book. In one even they talked about some base 20000 thousands miles deep... :)

'In 80 Days Around the Worls' and 'Journey to the Centre of Earth' were much better adaptations, not because they folowed strictly books, but simple, they made enjoyable movies, with good story, visuals etc.
