I tried to burn a multiple vts dvd video using svcd2dvd demo, and when i tried to burn the movies using nero, i received an error message.
"Power Calibration Error" burn process failed
Why did this occur? Thanx Oddyseus
I am using Matrix DVD-R 4.7GB 1X-4X from Shop4tech
What do you recommend? What are some good quality DVD brands?
Is there a way to force the burn process without harm to my hardware?

This is an error message from your burner. It couldn't calibrate the power of its laser in order to write the disk.
1. It is a very, very crappy disk
2. It is a 4x or 8x disk and your burner isn't capable of handling it
3. Temporary error that might evaporate if you shut down, wait about 30 secs and re-boot.
4. A dead burner, hopefully not the case.
5. A driver conflict, especially if you have installed something after the last time u burnt a disk.

Your writer failed to burn to the "lead-in" area of the disc. Either it's crappy media (most likely), you specifed a speed to high for the disc or it crappy media.
As the good man says, try a different brand o' media.

I'm not sure if oddyseus realizes you replied to his message. Rather than editing your original post, you should post a follow-on message (click the Post Reply button).
I don't know about Matrix media. Matrix is an unfortunate brand name, as a full search will most likely turn up hundreds of threads about Matrix the movie. However, searching just the DVD Burning forum turns up a couple of threads. It looks like people are having some success with matrix media, but I get the impression there is some question about its quality.
I can't recommend any media (I'm in the +R camp), but I would think any quality name-branded would work to test things out. You might browse the DVD Burning forum to get some idea what media people really trust.
As for forcing you writer to burn, I don't think you'll be able to. The laser power calibration is pretty crucial to the writing process.
