I thought it would be a neat idea to get some suggestions and take a poll of what songs everyone finds useful in DVD projects like Weddings, Home Videos, and Picture slideshows. Maybe people can suggest songs and what themes they are most useful for.

For example:

Children:
Rod Stewarts, Forever Young

Girls:
Cyndi Lauper, Girls just wanna have Fun

Intrumental - Weddings:
Kenny G - Breathless Album

Instrumental - Picture Slideshows:
Enya

Classic B/W photos - Picure Slideshow:
Nat King Cole, Unforgetable or Mona Lisa

out of that list, only 2 are in public domain (the two Nat King Cole ones actually), so if you are getting paid to create the disc for someone, you really need to pay royalties for the use of the songs.

??????? - Butterfly kisses (for the father dance)
Billy Idol - White wedding (would have been appropriate at my neice's wedding, hehe :D )
Billy Joel - This Night

Intrumental - Weddings:
Anyone of the classic strings cds works very well

Instrumental - Picture Slideshows:
Santa – Samba Pa Ti

Anniversary - Picure Slideshow:
Good Riddance(time of your life) Green Day (saw this on a 50th anniversary video recently, works very well)

time of your life - I saw this used in the Seinfeld Clip Show part 2, which did a behind the scenes and showed the characters off role and sets. I agree this is a really good one that can be used generally for about anything.

Musical taste range widely. for example; If you use rock n roll, country music lovers won't enjoy you video and vice versa. They will watch it at least once, but the music will spoil it for them. If your presentations are going to be seen by a wide age range, give serious consideration to the 101 strings cds. Its elevator music. Everybody makes jokes about it, but they hum along and tap their foot. They may not love the music, but will probably will watch it again. After all your hard work on it, it's the best compliment you'll get.

There are tons of them. Do a google search or go to your local record store.
