so, I made about 20 copies of DVD films with rpc2, i've got rpc2 DVD drive also, but this week i've tried to copy 4 american rpc1 dvds. 3 of them are already done, but the last one - Moulin Rouge, was a problem. I'm using dvd-decrypter + ifoedit + instant copy for this kind of activity. I ripped it, enabled all regions, cut unnecessary staff and when I was about to burn it I tried to play it with powerDVD and a very beauty-full 20th century cinemas logo with sign "DVD region protected" was smileing at me! ok, i ran DVD Region Free, and it works, BUT there's point>
Will this disc with all regions enabled work with standalone player, and how (where:)could software players detect that it's wrong region?

oh, i forgot to notice {according to attention post at the beginning of this forum} that all the dvd's are my own, of course. also american rpc1 ones, that my family bought when they were abroad recently. {what a surprise when they wanted to play it in standalone...:) - another reason to buy dvd-rw}, so could anybody explain it to me?

Do a search for "RCE" in the Decrypting forum. You will get threads like this, http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=54760&highlight=rce describing similar problems like yours, plus possible solutions.

Places in your IFO that DVD Player checks for Region codes and RCE protections. I believe your player first checks here.
Open up your VIDEO_TS.IFO with IfoEdit and look in the VMGM_MAT. Look in address 0x00000023. Depending on the value, certain regions are set as enabled. A zero means all enabled. Your ripper only sets this part if you opt for Region free.
[00000023] VMG Category, Regional Code mask 0 [00]
Region: 1 enabled.
Region: 2 enabled.
Region: 3 enabled.
Region: 4 enabled.
Region: 5 enabled.
Region: 6 enabled.
Region: 7 enabled.
Region: 8 enabled.
Now, there are also RCE protection commands that may reside in any of your PGC Command Tables. It could be in your...
VIDEO_TS.IFO / VMGM_MAT / First Play PGC
VIDEO_TS.IFO / VMGM_PGCI_UT / PGC-Menu_#
VTS_*_0.IFO / VTS_PGCITI / VTS_PGC_*
VTS_*_0.IFO / VTS_PGCI_UT/ PGC-Menu_#
A typical command could be set like below, so when the DVd player is going through it's navigations and encounters this, it performs if-then commands.
Pre/Post Command...Set GPreg<#> mov SPreg<player region code>...[61 00 00 0# 00 94 00 00]
# can be 0 to F in hex
Pressing Region Free button in IFOedit checks all your PGC Commands for codes like these and changes/deletes them accordingly. Your ripper doesn't perform this part so that's why you needed to use your Region Free tool.
Look in this guide (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=365490#post365490) on how RCE protecton works and how I got this DVD set to be corrected.
I hope this helps for you.
