I was wandering around gamepro.com when I came across a new product from sony that's going on sale soon in japan called PSX. It has a tv tuner, dvd recorder, hard drive and PS2 playing capabilities. It uses the Emotion Engine processor from the PS2. From the article:

In order to launch Sony's multifunctional player in time for the holidays, many features touted previously will not be available. The PSX features DVD playback and recording capabilities, a PS2 console and a media center for handling multimedia. The features to be taken out are:

* CD-R, DVD+RW disc playback (can still playback DVD-RW)
* MP3 playback
* TIFF and GIF image support (JPEGs still supported)
* 24x DVD writing speed (downgraded to 12x)

The most glaring omission of the PSX is an ethernet socket, which means that it initially won't be compatible with the PlayStation Broadband service or Sony's online music services.

Despite these changes, the price still remains the same, with the 250GB HD version retailing for 99,800 yen ($917) and the 160 GB HD version retailing for 79,800 yen ($719). The PSX is scheduled for release in Japan on December 13.

And the sleek, silver design looks mad cool too.
