hey everyone --
what is the easiest way to join multiple vobs?? I have several 1 gig vob files and i would like to join them as 1 large vob file so when i playback via my pc i do not get the 'jumps' when powerdvd goes from 1 vob file to another and also
if i do successfully join all these vobs and create 1 large vob, will i be able to burn that 1 large vob to a dvd and view it on a standalone player, or do they not recognize files larger than 1gig? thanks in advance guys !
i would prefer to use freeware of course, and not ifoedit (it looks like a pain :D, but i assume many will suggest it :D )

hi zx3chris and welcome to the forum.
one method of joining multiple vobs is to use vobedit and a guide for that can be found here.http://users.pandora.be/rudy.stremersch/joinclip.html
it also explains how to use ifoedit to create new ifo files for your newly 'joined' vob :sly: (sorry couldnt resist)
from what i understand you could also use dvdshrink to create a dvd containing the vobs in 'author' mode.
guides for using dvdshrink can be found at ddloopings site (here) (http://www.dvdshrink.info/index.php) and in doom9s guide section.
hope that helps

no worries chris, glad to help :D
...now if you want to get a bit 'fancy' you could try using an authoring program, like dvd lab, avaliable (here) (http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/) . it comes with a 30 day trial (or at least USED to) and accepts vob files.
you could even design your own menu for switching between your differnet 'vobs' instead of 'joining' them together using vobedit.
good luck with your project

example:
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
If so, you can select your source in PowerDVD to open DVD file on hard disk drive after you have created new IFOs for them using IfoEdit.

DVDlab is an excellent program to use. The only thing I might add is you might get a slight pause when it swiches from 1 vob to another when using dvdlab. The reason for this is because each vob is a different title. If you wanted to make one movie in dvdlab with 5 seperate vobs you would have 5 titles, which can make it difficult to navigate if you put chapters within each vob.
5 vobs, with 5 chapters each, would look like vob1 ch1-5, vob2 ch1-5, etc. If you want your movie to go from ch1-25 then you would need to join all vobs first.
If you can deal with the pause and diff titles then just do what Jel said to do. If you want a continuos flowing movie with several chapters then join first.
