I have a few AVI files that I want to convert using DVD2SVCD, but it is unable to render the video. I can play the files OK with Media Player. In the file properties the codec listed is DVGigaAviCodec. I also tried TMPGEnc, which also spat it out. Can anyone help me out with this?

a) If you want to play a SVCD first you should burn it as a Supervideo CD, not as a data CD.
Supposed you already did a)
b.1) To play SVCD you will need a DVD player program such as Intervideo WinDVD, Zoom Player or Media Player Classics.
b.2) Another option is to download some codecs that allow you to view MPEG2 content, as for example "Fraunhofer video and audio codecs", which you may find at the download section, or you may try the "Elecard MPEG2 Decoder". I don't know where to find the last one, but it shouldn't be difficult to find at google. Anyway Elecard decoder, will show Elecard logo unless you have a registered copy.

vcdude,
I saw that the Elecard codecs are also in the Doom's 9 download section. No need to search at google.

I'm confused with your response. I am not familiar with the DVGigaAviCodec. Is this a mpeg2 codec? vcdude stated he could not render his avi to svcd. He could view the avi but not make a mpeg.
@vcdude
You might have better luck posting this in the dv forum. I did a google search on this codec and received a number of hits. All of the hits seem to be Frence in origin.

try install a VfW DV codec, or modify your DVD2SVCD avs script and change "avisource" to "directshowsource". depending on which version of avisynth DVD2SVCD is using, this should work.

Sorry, I understood bad. I thought that vcdude was trying to play an already converted MPEG2 file.
Damned english language (for non-natives).
