im having big problems capturing VHS onto DVD, i have captured fine using my canopus and win DV, but as soon as i covert it through tmpgenc plus, the picture has lines/stripes etc where there is movement!!, the captured video clip plays fine!! but when i have finished encoding to DVD and burn it onto a disc the final product stutters, , i believe the problem to be in tmpgen plus as when its encoding i can see these strips etc. What settings should i have tmpgen on, i have posted this problem before and i have actually burned one succesful disc this morning .........but i have come to do a second and the lines are back!!!!
interlaced or non interlaced ?

ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

What frame rate are you capturing at and what frame rate are you encoding to? Is the content home movies or films? This sounds like interlacing.

Why are you selecting interlace? If it is already interlaced this might cause problems. If it is not interlaced it probably doesn't need to be. What you are describing sounds like a interlaced video. If you are in PAL land it never needs to be interlaced

thanks for helping, its a television programme, so is it already interlacd? and excuse my naivity but should capture and encode rates be the same, and yes im in pal land so should i select non interlace in tmpgen, as i have tried this and the preview in tmpgen stil appears sriped,( i have been told these stripes will not appear on the final dvd burn though)

Why don't you just use the pal template. Do not use the wizard. Load your video and audio by click the buttons on the bottom middle. Click on the middle button on the bottom right and select the template for your desired finished output. It will set your options to the proper settings for most jobs. The only thing you might have to do after that is click the settings button select the second tab and about half way down you can select a viewing output option. (Sorry, I'm at work and can't remember what it is called.) You will probably want to select the option --> Full Screen(keep aspect ratio). That should do it for you. You only need to interlace if you are going to view the video on a ntsc television Even then you don't need to interlace. You might need to de-interlace for you system but never interlace.
