Avisynth - Do i have to use any filters at all?

I've got a DVD-Source and the Quality is really good. Are any additional filters than crop/resize recommended in this case?

You didn't describe what you're trying to accomplish, but the general answer would be "no." That said, recent releases of the Gordian Knot encoding suite (used for DVD->AVI), includes the UnDot() filter along with cropping / resizing as the default filter set.
