View Full Version : BeSweet crashing - mp2 created at 0 bytes

Hello. I have been having this problem for a few weeks now. It started suddenly, and what happens is when you start converting a movie from
dvd to svcd it'll extract the audio fine, but when it tries to convert it to mp2 using BeSweet, it'll go through the whole process and then right
when it finishes besweet just crashes. Except that besweet doesn't give you a message, you just get that Windows XP "You have encountered
a problem, send a report" screen. It creates the mp2, but it's at 0 bytes so it's worthless. You can even keep going to the video conversion but
it'll crash eventually since there's no audio. If you try to recover, it'll just do the same thing again. You can run the besweet line manually, and
sometimes it'll work, but then cinema craft ends up crashing for some reason.

At first I thought it was software I installed so I formatted and tried it again. It worked for a couple of movies, then it started doing it again. I
tried uninstalling software, deleting all my cookies, etc. and it still didn't work. Then I reformatted AGAIN and it worked. This time I made sure not
to install any new software and it worked fine for about 8 movies, then just randomly stopped working. I'm getting tired of reformatting just to get
this to work. I've posted my dvd2svcd and besweet log below this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I've read this question
before in the forums because I've looked through 200 different pages of posts, but I've never seen an answer that worked for me, so I'm asking
again in more detail.

My computer is an Athlon 1200 mhz, 512 MB of ram, Win XP. It's worked fine for me before, so it's not my computer. I'm thinking it must be some
file my computer's randomly getting of the internet or something, but I have no idea what it could be. Thanks everyone.

Oh yeah, and I've tried different version of besweet, dvd2svcd, and cinema craft and it's not helping.

Can you try to execute manually the BeSweet script, and see if some more useful message is given?

Well, I'm not exactly sure what you mean by running a script. I ran this: C:\apps\DVD2SVCD\BeSweet\BeSweet.exe -core( -input "C:\Apps\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Extracted_audio_1.ac3" -output "C:\Apps\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Encoded_audio_1.mp2" -logfile "C:\Apps\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Encoded_audio_1.log" ) -azid( -L -3db -C 0db -S 0db -c normal -s surround -g max ) -shibatch( --rate 44100 ) -2lame( -e -b 192 -m s )

in the Run command under the start menu. It went through all the junk, including the transcoding, which took about a half hour. Then, right when it gets to the end I get the same Windows has encountered a problem error. No error from BeSweet. If I do it that way it creates the mp2 at 122 MB, and it'll play in Media player fine and at the full length. Then if I go into dvd2svcd and recover from the picture conversion, it'll start converting the video in cinema craft, loads all the files, and then I get a cce_encoding_init() failed: unknown error message. I never get this message when besweet runs fine. I've seen this error before in the forums, but again I've never seen much of a solution to it.

You got it right. Well, it seems weird. Does it happen with any movie source?

Try a couple of things:

1. Don't reduce to 44KHz
2. Try a short segment of the movie (use frame selection)

Seems you are not alone:

The same problem happens on any DVD I'm backing up.

I tried not converting to 44 khz and it had the same problem. I tried selecting a small section of movie from the middle and I had the same problem. I'm at a complete loss.

I honestly don't think it's a hardware problem since I've backed up well over 50 movies, and never had a problem until a few weeks ago, and didn't put in anything new.
