Is there a way to surpass the 1x or 2x ripping speed and rip at faster rates?

Are you referring to decrypting the DVD?
A more detailed question is likely to provoke greater responses than a lazy post.

A simple question deserves a simple answer.
Sure there's a way to achieve faster ripping rates - find out why you're only getting 1x and 2x ripping speeds and fix it.
Now you might ask what is causing 1x and 2x ripping rates. And you might ask that in the newbie or the decrypting forum. And you might provide more information (drive model, OS, ripping software, that sort of thing) so people will be able to make some suggestions on what to look out for.

Maybe you should check UDMA ?

Yep. Righto for UDMA ; make shure it is enabled, and you can throttle from 2x to 5 or 6x if you're lucky. Just finished a rip at 10,6x. But you could have searched with such entries as "rip speed"...

Some new Pionir drives have intentionally limited speed by ripping.
Solution is modified firmware - if it exists.

Ripping speed can be up to 16x - only at end of single layer DVD's.
By dual layer discs it usually can't go over 10-11x.

@ppera2
it was a global speed, but yes, it depends of the DVD's position (beginig, midle, end...) AND content, or so I think. But not for shure :rolleyes: .

don't rip it from a dvd writer
use a liteon dvd rom for ripping
and you will rip at 4-12x
