I need to creat a DVD containing theoretical trailers or selected scenes from many DVD's that I own. After ripping by decryping, I need to convert the files into .mpg files so I can edit these by my software (Vegas Video 4). How can I go about these and still maintain as close to the original DVD quality (MEPEG2)?

Extract the m2v and ac3/wav and use TMPGenc's simple multiplex to convert your files into a big MPEG2.

You can read up on elementary streams in the VOBs sections of this guide (http://www.doom9.org/dvd-structure.htm)

Where can I download the TMPGenc's simple multiplex? You can check Doom9's software downloads in the MPEG1/2 Encoders section (http://www.doom9.org/software.htm).

Please take the time to search/browse through Doom9's site and forum. Your question is a very common one. There's also a TMPGenc forum here. Simple Multiplexing is a feature of TMPGenc, not a separate program. ;)

Thanks, 2Cool! Here are the steps that I think should be done. Please correct, clarify, or add to these:
1. Rip VOB files using DVD Decrypter
2. Convert each VOB file to D2V file using DVD2AVI
3. Convert D2V to MPEG2 using TMPGENC
4. Edit MPEG2 using my Vegas Video 4

Rip to Iso
Mount with daemons tools

use tmpg Dvd Author to extract the mpeg file. You do this by pretending to author a new dvd when selecting the movie file it will offer to extract it to hard drive. It wil give you a perfectly in-sync complete mpeg file to work with. Program has a free fully functional trial.
