I am using Dvd2svcd v109 Build 2 and TMPGEnc-2.55.38.142-Plus and am currently using Windows 98 se as a O/S and am wondering if it is possible to use a Windows 98 to XP Upgrade as an O/S without any problems?
I tried searching for topics in the forum and had no luck, so please if there are any direct me to them...Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi madmaninc,
XP is a a good and stable OS. It is the recommended evolution from Win98SE (this is not the case of ME).
The only thing you have to do to keep D2S working properly is to install xp_aspi drivers.

I don't think you will have terrible problems with those aps. I'd recommend, however, to backup your data and do a fresh install. Windows (particularly 98) gets stupid with time and needs some attention.

Thanks all for the quick responses...jsoto: what do you mean when you say "The only thing you have to do to keep D2S working properly is to install xp_aspi drivers."....is there an issue here that I need to be aware of?

To answer if I may on jsoto's behalf, the aspi issue is no big deal.
Windows XP is shipped without an aspi layer.
On the dvd2svcd homepage there is a download link for a set of files you need to install aspi for XP. It comes with a "readme" file which, if read carefuly, makes for a very straightforward procedure.
Nothing at all to worry about!

I upgraded from Win98SE to XP a few weeks ago. I would add to the information above, do not go online unless you have an anti-virus program installed. I subscribe to McAfee but of course only had the Win98 version, which had to be disabled. Upon going on-line to authenticate XP, I instantly picked up the Blaster Worm virus which was a PITA to get rid of; particulary when the machine reboots when you go online to try and download the McAfee XP version. Be warned, it isn't just me this has happened to.
Regards & good luck,
Bob
P.S. Once upgraded (with a virus checker & a firewall instlled (the XP one is cr*p)), I found all my apps worked and XP is a good operating system.
