View Full Version : AVI+DTS works, MKV+DTS doesn't

Neither MPC 6.4.6.8. nor TCMP4rc5 play any sound from matroska files with DTS audio. However, AVI files with DTS audio work fine, meaning that I have installed the necessary decoders.

In Graphedit, it does not play either, but constructs an awkward filter graph: it attches AVI<->AC3/DTS to MatroskaSplitter (and complains if I unregister that filter before).

If anyone can replay DTS audio from MKV files, please tell me how...otherwise i'll use AVI for my LOTR 2 - extended edition - rip :p

"AVI<->AC3/DTS" has an obsolite name :) It is a universal vica versa frame packing converter for decoders, like intervideo which doesn't accept raw ac3/dts frames, neighter does pes packed dts frames, the only form it likes dts is when the frames are in pes and in those 2k dvd packets too, with the encrypted media type on top of it.

Anyway, back to the problem. Can you play this file? http://gabest.org/dts.mkv (will be up in 10 minutes, but I have to hit submit right now :))

Yes....it plays fine

OK, now it's getting weird. I'll look at my files a bit closer....

Now it suddenly almost works, and I do not have the slightest idea why :(

(almost = very jerky with 500ms laces, much better with 200ms laces)

Another problem:

Using MKV each stream get's it's own DTS Decoder assigned in Graphedit, but loading WinDVD Decoder more than once causes pops in the speakers.

So I cannot use more than one DTS stream inside MKV. Ac3 is no problems if you use Ac3filter.ax, but using WinDVD for ac3 as well, you get the same problem as with DTS.

Anybody knows another DTS-Decoder that has no problem with getting loaded twice? Anybody tried with PowerDVD#s one?

Using OGm is also not working, muxing DTS & Ac3 into one OGM, I cannot listen to the DTS at all:confused:

Thanks
