I have had great success using the above program for all my backups requiring a re-encode. When doing TT I tried using the DTS stream instead of the 6 channel AC3 to see what difference there was. But my backup has no sound when played on either of my stand-alones, a JVC Progressive and a Daewoo. Software player has sound, though. Is the DTS a unique format that requires special hardware to use?

Thanks, I should have tested the first disk before doing the second, I see now.

usually you need to play DTS through SPDIF-Out on your computer. Obviously your receiver/amp needs to decode DTS. DTS is almost as common as having progressive scan where as a year ago progressive scan added about $100 more into the dvd player.
